Dylan is a Minnesota raised multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser and song-writer with a vibrant and energetic musicality. As a guitarist, his unique and highly athletic techniques have helped to redefine the parameters of the acoustic guitar. He has performed in an eclectic range of musical settings and has spanned many genres as a soloist, ensemble player, composer, and arranger. His stylized methods on the guitar have also influenced his mandolin playing, where he has developed a distinctive personal style. He has worked on film scores, collaborations with theater and dance companies in Minneapolis, New York, and Boston, and performed his original music across the country. When Dylan performs, his music, both curious and deeply thoughtful, has been hailed by The Boston Globe as “effecting a sublime transformation”. He has worked and shared a stage with many incredible musicians, including Pierre Bensusan, Don Ross, Joe Morris, John Zorn, Ran Blake, and many others. He recently released an album of original songs and compositions entitled The Righting Moment produced by Carla Kihlstedt of Tin Hat Trio. Dylan currently lives Brooklyn, New York.

May 12th @7pm: Backyard Concert - Dylan McKinstry
Heathside Cottage is a nationally registered Historic Landmark in Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhood of Fineview. Built in the mid-nineteenth century by bridge architect James Andrews, it has since been restored to its Early Victorian style, with ornate gothic features throughout the home and garden.
This tale of love and values unfolds in the class-conscious England of the late 18th century. The five Bennet sisters - including strong-willed Elizabeth and young Lydia - have been raised by their mother with one purpose in life: finding a husband. When a wealthy bachelor takes up residence in a nearby mansion, the Bennets are abuzz. Amongst the man's sophisticated circle of friends, surely there will be no shortage of suitors for the Bennet sisters. But when Elizabeth meets up with the handsome and snobbish Mr. Darcy, the battle of the sexes is joined.
Steel City Shakespeare Center performs the show throughout the cottage with special guest appearances by the National Aviary, the Jane Austen Society, and the Country Dance and Song Society of Pittsburgh
